Terms and conditions of the Animal adaptation scheme
Terms and conditions of the adaptions scheme are thoroughly worked out for the smooth functioning of the scheme.
The rules clearly state do’s and don’ts that adopters must adhere to. Prior to adopting any animal from the zoo, it is crucial to thoroughly examine and understand the rules and conditions.
- Any individual or organisation or corporate sector can sponsor the food for all the animals of the zoo for one day.
- Any individual or organisation can adopt a Tiger, Leopard, Elephant &/or Sloth Bear in their name(s) for a period of 1, 2, 3 or 6 Months &/or 1 year.
- Any individual or organisation can adopt a group of social animals (up to 5 animals) that are mentioned within scheme A for a period of 1, 2, 3 or 6 Months &/or 1 year.
- Any business entity/corporate firm can adopt any two animals from the Tiger, Leopard, Elephant, or Sloth Bear species for a period of 1, 2, 3 or 5 years.
- Any business entity/corporate firm can adopt an entire enclosure of the species mentioned in scheme B for a period of 1, 2, 3 or 5 years.
- Onetime payment must be made through cheque/bankers’ cheque/demand drafts in favour of ‘The Municipal Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation.’
- Donations accepted under this scheme will be used towards providing proper care, nutritious feed and veterinary treatment for the adopted animals.
- An adoption card will be provided to the animal adopter.
- All other zoo rules & regulations shall be applicable to the adopter.
- Adopters will not be allowed to touch, handle, play with or enter into the animal enclosures, as per the guidelines of Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi.
- The adopted animals would be looked after and managed in the zoo itself by the zoo staff.
- No adopted animal will be allowed to be taken outside the zoo premises nor any adopter will be entitled to claim ownership rights on the adopted animal.
- Adopters are not allowed to feed any animal in the zoo and will also not be authorised to alter their feed regimen.
- Care of any sick animals will be taken in the zoo with the guidance of experts and the adopters do not have any right to interfere in the treatment of animals.
- Adopters will not have any rights to interfere in the zoo management and are prohibited from putting any sort of influence or pressure by any means on the zoo administration.
- The final decision of whether to allow an adopter to adopt the zoo animals on the availability of animals lie with the zoo administration.
- If the adopter does not obey the above-prescribed terms & conditions then the right of sponsorship cancellation without refunding the adoption fee is reserved with the Municipal Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation.
- All benefits mentioned in the scheme will be made available to the adopters depending upon availability.
- Any legal dispute arising in the interpretation of the above terms and conditions should be addressed in the jurisdiction of the court in Pune City.
Animal Adaptation Scheme Benefits
There are various ways to encourage citizens to adopt zoo animals and to encourage their participation. The benefits are of different types and are planned according to the rules of the zoo and keeping in mind the overall interest of the organization as well as depending on the period of adoption.

- Recognition in the RGZP Newsletter
- Name on the temporary board (size 18″X12″) displayed at the zoo entrance
1-2 Months
- Certificate of Adoption.
- Animal Fact Sheet.
- Free Zoo Articles.
- All zoo publications would be given free of cost.
- Recognition in the RGZP Newsletter.
- Name on temporary board (size 18″X12″) displayed in front of adopted animal enclosure.
- Invitation for 5 family members to participate freely in Zoo Orientation Programme which will be held during the adoption period.
- Once free entry to the zoo for 5 family members during the adoption period with a battery-operated vehicle facility.
3 Months and above
- Certificate of Adoption
- Animal Fact Sheet
- Free Zoo Articles
- Recognition in the RGZP Newsletter
- All zoo publications would be given free of cost
- Name on temporary board (size 18″X12″) displayed in front of adopted animal enclosure
- Invitation for 10 family members to participate freely in Zoo Orientation Programme which will be held during the adoption period.
- Once free entry to the zoo for 10 family members during the adoption period with a battery-operated vehicle facility.
