Rescue and rehabilitation of the wild animals carried out by the zoo

Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park voluntarily contributes to serving free-range wildlife through wild animal rescue and rehabilitation centres. The rescue centre receives reptiles, birds and mammals from all across the region which counts to over a thousand each year. The animals admitted to the rescue centre were imparted requisite treatment until complete recovery while the orphaned juveniles were nurtured through hand rearing. The recovered animals were mandatorily released back into nature in coordination with the local forest division. The unreleased animals, orphaned young ones, and animals with a permanent disability were never released instead permanently housed and looked after in the rescue centre facility.
