(Macaca Radiata)
The southern Indian macaque species known as zati, or bonnet macaque (Macaca radiata), is native to the region. Its range is restricted by the Godavari and Tapti Rivers, the Indian Ocean on three of its sides, and the rhesus macaque, a relative rival, in the north. The food of the bonnet macaque includes grains, fruits, nuts, seeds, flowers, and invertebrates. In South India, this animal lives in harmony with humans, feeding on food given by humans and raiding crops and houses.
