Saw Scaled Viper

( Echis carinatus)

This snake is commonly found in dry, stony or rocky areas. About one-and-half to two feet in length, it has a distinct arrow-shaped white mark on its triangular head. This nocturnal snake mainly feeds on mice, lizards, frogs and scorpions. The females give birth to 8 to 9 young ones between July and August. The Snake venom is used to make Anti-Snake Venom. When threatened, the snake brushes its scales against each other to produce a sound.

Symptoms

  • The burning sensation starts at the site of the bite and spreads all over the body.
  • The site of the bite swells and turns bluish-black.
  • Haemorrhage at the site of the bite and kidneys and internal bleeding after about 12 hours
  • Anaemia and possible cardiac arrest without any loss of blood

Asiatic Lion

( Echis carinatus)

Globally Asiatic lions are found only in India in Gir wildlife sanctuary across Gujrat state. It lives in small pride comprising 2-5 females with their young. Males join in only to eat and mate. Female lions are the pride's primary hunters & work together to prey upon large mammals.
